2019 is up and running, and we have news!

The Making It Work Gender and Disability project team is proud to welcome new country partners who work to eliminate violence and discrimination against women and girls with disabilities in Africa!

The United Nations' 63rd Commission on the Status of Women is in New York, from March 11th 2019 to the 22nd. HI and Making It Work's project team are there with African activist women to carry the voice of women and girls with disabilities.

The sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 11 to 22 March 2019, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Making It Work will be there, alongside two African women activists.

December 3rd marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The year’s theme focuses on “empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality". On this occasion, Making It Work’s partner in Cameroon, the Gender and Disability Inclusive Development Group, shares the story of Nina. Nina’s story is one of empowerment and resilience.

On International Women Human Rights Defenders Day, a tribute was paid by AWID for the activists who are no longer with us. Florence Adong-Ewoo is one them.
