VOICES OF Collection: Experiences of women with disabilities

What is the Collection Voices Of?

Visual with Cover pages in the Collection PAROLES DE / VOICES OF

Our collection "Voices of" was born from the desire to hear and read the lived realities of women and girls with disabilities. The willingness to "give them the microphone". The need to hear of their lives. And the commitment to amplify their voices.

First item: 'Voices of Women with Psychosocial Disabilities in Lira, Uganda' by LIDDWA Lira District Disabled Women's Association. Published May 2024. Link to the Report in English.

"The report aims at making their voices heard, their experiences shared and ultimately inform further engagement by all stakeholders for a more dignified, autonomous and healthy life for women and girls with disabilities"

Second item: 'Voices of women with disabilities in Burundi: Shared realities / Au coeur des femmes : réalités partagées - Paroles de femmes handicapées du Burundi' by Association pour la Promotion des Droits des Femmes Handicapées du Burundi - Urumuri (ABPDFH). Published June 2024 - Link to French and Link to English

86 women with disabilities of all ages and all disabilities, some of them involved in associations and self-help groups, talked about their lives, their difficulties, their pride and their dreams. They shared their realities, to give us a glimpse of what a more inclusive society might look like, in which they would have their rightful place.

Report beautifully illustrated by @Danch20
