Disseminating your report

Guidelines Step 11

Toolkit Step 11

Dissemination means getting the product distributed to different target groups you identify to receive your information or as targets for your advocacy efforts.

DPOs/NGOs/CBOs often need to combine different strategies in order for their dissemination to be as effective as possible.  It is time to create a dissemination plan.  Some possible vehicles for dissemination include:

  • Using the internet for dissemination :

    • Websites (put the report and information on your project on your existing website; create a new project website; link to other organization’s websites)

    • Listservs

    • E-blasts
  • Mailings by regular mail

  • Newsletters

  • Launch event to announce your MIW project

  • Meetings you attend regularly or of new groups relevant to your topic.

  • Conferences, seminars, and workshops - possibly join a panel or ask for a side event to disseminate and discuss the results of your report.

  • Training of people who could assist in disseminating your reports and publications

  • Articles in journals

  • One-to-one briefings

  • Special events

You do not have to use every dissemination option listed. Create a plan that is usable for your context and needs.
